Ainge will not trade Rondo

Let's hope this is right. Rondo is last man standing.

For those Rondo fans, Danny Ainge said 1) he's not going to be traded and 2) he sees Rondo as a central cornerstone to bring around

As odd as it may sound part of me thinks that if Ainge really doesn't trade Rondo, this roster overhaul might put less pressure on Rondo to come back too early.

It's a good point, NEC - maybe this is designed around Rondo not returning until, say, halfway through next year.

Rondo, very intelligently I think, seems to be letting it be known that he's very concerned about whom the next coach is. I think he wants to have a say in that, and rightly so.

someone makes an interesting comment - that now the Celtics 2014 pick has real trade appeal. That could be significant

This, from Celtics Blog, is the kind of comment we constantly see : "The only way a team wins a title is if they have a MVP caliber player.

LeBron, Dirk, KG, Kobe, Duncan, Wade, Shaq, MJ, Hakeem, Bird, Magic, Moses...

Only way to get these players (in most cases) is through

1-picking high enough in the draft
2-Hoarding assets to trade to a team willing to trade a star player for whatever reason (Harden, Howard, Carmelo, Paul, Shaq, KG). The most coveted trade chip in the NBA are first round draft picks.
3-Free Agency"

One shakes one's head, doesn't one? Rondo has already been in the NBA running several times. He's clearly MVP material.

It's different though when your best player is a pg. When you have lebron you don't really need a very good bigman or even that good a of a pg but with a point guard you need a skilled big man and you need perimeter defenders to cover the other wings and wing players that can score when bigger players are put onto your pg. I understand you think we can build around rondo but he's no different from any of the other great point guards in the league today who need a complete team. That's why a point guard hasn't been the best player on a championship team in a couple of years rondo and parker have come extremely close though in recent years.

Come on, RC. This is just group think that everyone is spitting out. OF COURSE Big Men, in general, tend to make the biggest difference. That's always been true, and I'm sure it always will be, unless they radically change the game. Big guys are closer to the rim and so they tend to have a bigger impact, with less effort and less skill. I've pointed this out myself many times. But great teams, generally speaking, are built around great players, regardless of position, and even a great big needs strong teammates. EVEN WILT NEEDED GREAT TEAMMATES.

This stuff about how you can't build around a pg, and specifically not Rondo, is just one more gospel of group think that almost everyone around the internet seems to be bowing down to now.

Now Marc Stein is saying that Rondo is being traded too?
