"IN RONDO WE TRUST"

Celtics Blog Post New Entry

Say it ain't so KG

Posted by shawn cassidy on June 18, 2013 at 5:15 AM

How did Mr. Bleed Green get stuck in the middle of Doc's open betrayal to the Celtics franchise. What the hell happened after the Celtics lost game 3 to New York when KG, Pierce, and Rondo talked alone behind closed doors? It felt like every other day during the 2012-13 season that KG proclaimed his love, and undying devotion to Boston green. It's still unclear if he's stuck with Doc because of Doc's choice? KG has the no trade clause, and no reports suggest otherwise.

I won't start speculation about KG just yet. This is Doc's trade and his demand. Not enough is out about KG in all of this. The only thing that has been suggested is that all three want to walk away together. The rules of the game is only I it seems.  Even though the talk is we; it’s only me it looks like from Doc. It wasn't that long ago when Garnett said he lost Ray's number. Ray's departure was by his choosing. For KG it's unclear. But the thing that obviously shows why he's okay with going? The no trade clause. If he says no this deal doesn't have teeth.

It would hurt more with KG's departure compared to Ray's. Kevin has said all the right things, and he's been the stereotypical Celtic. In the sorrowful rain and saddening clouds that roll in with the wind picking up ever so slightly. The land south to the river is still as beautiful as ever. From the waterside the sun came up easier then the day before. The story of KG in Boston hasn't ended yet. But with Doc's train moving faster towards it's destination. The Big Ticket is about to pick up his ticket to LA soon. The Celtics are that river beautiful as ever despite the chaos. As corny as it sounds. The Celtic Pride that everyone talks about lives in the fans, and it sadly doesn't hold true for every single player that walks through the doors.

Like i said the other day it's clear that pierce isn't forcing his way out of boston like a couple of you were saying. Now with KG I can understand him wanting to be loyal to doc but that doesn't mean I won't be mad if all of these reports are true and it seems like I was wrong about him not having a part in this whole thing because if he says no then this trade won't have any teeth as you said.

Also if this deal goes down i'd like to see strong consideration for lawrence frank. He was a good coach in new jersey a couple of yrs ago with jason kidd who rondo is similar too and it seems like if anyone would know how to coach rondo it would be him and frank has been an assistant for us so him and rondo have some familiarity.

No, RC, that's not clear at all. In fact, I think Pierce IS forcing his way out, perhaps passively, but of course that's not even certain at this point about Doc or KG. But I LOOKS like all three are. We don't have certain knowledge of what is actually going on in people's minds and behind closed doors, of course.

This deal has turned from a shocking developement that might in the end clear our way through a logjam into a nightmare that just won't end. Danny started this negotiation with a lot of leverage, it seems. The Clippers needed to please Chris Paul, and Danny only needed to entertain a deal that, we are pretty safe in assuming, Doc at least wanted and may have been pushing for, probably with some degree of connivance from at least KG. Now the Clippers are in the driver's seat. Just by negotiating the deal, they have at least given the appearance of trying to please Chris Paul, which may have been as far as they really wanted to go anyway, but Danny now pretty much has to finish the deal, which now looks more and more like KG for Jordan.

Wow. We are looking at an offer we can't refuse.

If I were Danny, I would call Rondo, and I would lay the deal before him. I'd tell him that it comes down to this: would you prefer KG as your center, or Jordan? If he says he wants Jordan (more of a true center, and someone who can run with Rondo), or KG (a far better player, especially defensively, but at the end of his career, and maybe not attuned to the kind of ball Rondo may want to play), do the deal. If he says he wants KG, tell him that he has to talk to KG and persuade him to stay in Boston despite Doc being almost certainly gone.

Danny should walk away from this deal. Two major pieces like Doc and KG for Jordan, which is what this is really coming down to? No. No no no. If Doc retires and KG retires, we get KG's numbers off our cap situation right? I'd think maybe I'd rather have that.

Celtics Blog says that the Clippers have walked away from the deal. Hilarious. Thank God. Danny, don't talk to them anymore. They are not to be trusted. As first conceived this would have been a good way for both teams to go, but the Clips have no honor.

What happens now is, I hope, what should have happened before: people start talking about what needs to change, and how we can stop treating Rondo like the whipping boy, and how we can make this really his team, designed around him.

But that won't happen.

I hope Danny has other and better moves in mind, because I don't have any faith that Rondo, Doc, PP and KG can or will work out any kind of needed new approach. They've shown, in my view, that they won't. I hope they prove me wrong.

Chris Paul may work on the Clippers, driving them back to the table. If they do come back, demand Bledsoe.

As for Doc and Rondo, Doc appears to have wanted BOTH Paul and Bledsoe over Rondo. I can't imagine that Rondo hasn't noticed this.

True can't put anything past any of these guys. Even with that said i'd still like to see them bring the "band" back. I like the way paul really tried to incorporate jeff green into the offense the second half of the season and in the playoffs if he can do that with rondo we'll have a very decent team.

I definetly wouldn't want jordan. I can see he would work with rondo for alleys but that's about it and jordan is highly overpaid and under contract for a couple of years. The guy really hasn't even improved his free throw shooting also which would be annoying to watch.

I cared more about losing KG than Doc. KG must come out and mend our broken hearts.

If Paul and Rondo could really work together, it could be absolute magic. But I have given up on hoping for that. And another season of Rondo playing fourth fiddle to Doc, KG and Pierce, and maybe to Green and Terry and Bradley now too, should just not happen. This kid's career has been put on hold far too long. If Danny is really going to welcome the Three Amigos back, he should trade Rondo. Let Rondo restart his career somewhere else.

C'slife, KG leaving or planning to leave hurts a lot more, I agree. I never bought into the Doc hype.

I haven't said anything about this yet. I don't even want to think about this honestly. We've heard some rumors in the past that were just rumors. I hope this is the case.

It's all just so nauseating, Morena. Don't think about it if you can help it!
