Pierce can't do it alone

The Celtics are not getting easy baskets, and Bob Ryan should know why. Paul Pierce has played well, and at the same time he's been in hero mode. But at the same time maybe he's been forced to. Paul Pierce is capable of getting to the hoop, and maybe he didn't get the calls in game two, but he needs to get more then 2 free throw attempts. Pierce had a team high 18 points, and a team high 6 assists. Pierce is stretched out. The loss of Rondo is glaring right now.

"The offense had its struggles," Pierce said. "And when we don't get the ball inside, or we don't score in the paint, and get easy opportunities, rely on jump shots, that's what you see -- (we) struggle to score. So we have to do a better job of getting to the bucket, try to find a way to get to the free throw line. Get some easy opportunities for us."

"We just didn't come out aggressive in the third quarter," Pierce said. "They put pressure on us defensively, had us on our heels, and we didn't respond. Overall, I like the way we've been defending, but offensively, we have to do a better job of getting open, running our offense, and getting into our sets."

I just don't know how this team falls off so drastically from the first half to the second half.

This says it all. We miss Rondo more than ever right now.

But as true as it is that we miss Rondo, this business of settling for Js plagued us when Rondo was healthy too. This team seems at times to have no idea how to dynamically keep the defense off balance, probing it, playing off each other, breaking it down. They run set plays, or nothing at all. We'd be doing a lot better if Rondo was here, I think that's pretty clear, but we'd probably still setting for standing around much of the time.

I think paul forced a couple of shots but i feel if it was melo taking some of the shots he took they would've been called fouls. I also believe paul has been a great playmaker and he's been stepping up on defense taking charges. The only thing I can ask of him is to be more efficient on the offensive end but with his age you can't expect the world of him in my eyes paul has been fine.
