Missing the Rondo mystique

Posted by shawn cassidy on April 21, 2013 at 7:40 AM

The chimes upon the arbor are set to ring. When the calendar hits mid April a basketball becomes a brush. When the ball is tossed in the air the game is set to start. It's so simple, but Rondo has an ability to humble us, and an ability  that turns our heads like were looking at a pretty girl.

He makes us think. What is he capable of doing this year? Sometimes when I watch Rondo play it feels like a flair or a flicker of something great that you can't bottle, or take a picture of.
Something  abnormal as a flower winking. Rondo performs basketball miracles, and in this  season  it feels like were locked in a box ,while being made to swallow the key that will allow us to escape.

Not having Rondo leaves me with a sensation  that wraps around me with eerily intentions,  as though I'm being  watched by eyes I cannot see. Rondo made it his mission, and his goal to become the greatest point guard. During the regular season that debate wasn't easy. You couldn't clearly call Rondo the best, but in the playoffs Rondo was a slam dunk winner when debating him as the best,  since 2009 in book when he bested Rose in the first round.

I think the Celtics are better without Rondo talk died very slowly towards the end of March. The Celtics collapsed, and the hunger for Rondo became clear. Doc has been clear with his team that they are not better without Rondo. They relied on Rondo a lot, and now they must trust each other. They need to trust each other so they can move the ball, without a real point guard.

For me the loss of Rondo sunk in when  game 1 got under way Saturday. Apart of me wants this season to end so I can rush back to Rondo leading this team. When I say I want the season to end, I don't want the Celtics to lose now, I just can't wait to move on to next season. For months now we've endured bashing's by Bob Ryan and others. I think it's time to appreciate what we lost this year. The Celtics mystique is something real to most of us. I think the mystique of Rondo in the playoffs is something new and real for this franchise. You can't find players like Rondo who deliver in the playoffs.

Scary, sad, happy stuck in a cloud wondering throw magical unbelievable adventures. It's been a mist of events that have been  captured in our sleep, and the ride doesn't stop until our eyes open. It's not a dream the Celtics are doing this alone without their best player.
