Celtics by the Numbers: Rondo wins second assist crown

Posted by shawn cassidy on April 17, 2013 at 6:00 AM

Rondo's season will be known to me as the lost season. His season still had some career highlights. The steak set him apart from most of his peers. But it also branded him a selfish stat junky.During Rondo's streak, he was ejected for rouging up Kris Humphries of the Nets. With the ejection, Rondo's 37-game streak of at least 10 assists was snapped, keeping him tied with John Stockton for the second-longest run in NBA history (and short of Magic Johnson's 46-game record).

I thought Rondo's decision to back up teammate Kevin Garnett showed how unselfish he was. He could have let what happened go to keep his streak alive. But Rondo took a chance, and he was trying to be the best teammate he could be. What Rondo did was a bit much, but it was another learning experience for Rondo. In the 2012-13 season Rondo had five triple-doubles through 38 games played, and he will end the 2012-13 season as the leader, and he will also take home his second assists crown. His second in a row. Rondo just made the 400 assist minimum. Rondo averaged 11.1 assist per game, and Rondo added two 20 assist performances under his belt.

This season hasn't been easy for Rondo fans. From the haters, to more trade rumors. Rondo won me over a long time ago. I can't wait for his return. I'm nervous, worried, and full of emotions about his return. Will he be the same player, that's my concern. Knowing Rondo, he'll be even better.

The Haters had themselves a Hate Riot this year. They held off for about 15 or 20 games, and then they unleashed their savagery and became more nasty as the season progressed. They took every Rondo fault and magnified it. They took his achievements and denigrated them. Meanwhile, everyone else seemed to be above criticism. They created a nightmare.

But then there's Rondo, so stubborn, and often about the wrong things. He's got to make some changes. But I still thinkhe may be the best player I've seen.

Rondos career is just getting started. With all these guys playing until their late 30's. Rondo has 6-7 years of dominance at least.

No worries about me at all with rondo. I just HOPE he works heavily on his spot up shooting and shooting off the pick and roll so next year others like jeff green can handle the ball more and kick to him when they get doubled, even sully will be a load on the block but if Rondo can't shoot he'll just get doubled and pierce will be a year older so we'll need rondo more then ever.

Rondo has to really start nailing his Js and looking to receive the ball as well as pass it.

yeah it will allow others to handle the ball more and be more engaged on the defensive end since they're touching the ball on the offensive end.
