Rondo returns in good spirits

When you look for peace it often lies within you. When you search for peace it is not hard to find. All of us search for it, and peace  of mind is different for all of us. Going through hard times can disrupt who you are, and you will question everything, and maybe even who you are. When you want to keep peace alive you allow white doves to fly over your heart. When you make peace with others then it will feel like  the whole world lives in your heart. All of this talk about peace isn't political, it's about a guy who suffered the worst news you can receive as a professional athlete.

Rondo seemed at peace Friday night. Especially after the last time we saw him on a Celtics bench. His face was visibly heartbroken. The Rondo that was on the bench during the Hawks game was a happy go lucky guy who joked with guys on the bench, and an extra teacher and voice as well. It seems like Rondo has excepted what happened, and he needs to.

For us Rondo fans. We shall endure until his comeback.  The long cold frozen winters that feels like his absence isn't real but a sentence in our minds. Will continue to endure life without Rajon. The long hot burning summers that remind us of his  passion for the game that showed us something new every night on the basketball court. If you don't consider Rondo the best point guard. That's fine, but you must consider that he's the best big game point guard in the game. So will continue to endure this loss until the end.  The long lost autumn of your good-bye. These seasons feel longer  then they should, and will endure it all. We all wait for the joyous beauty of the springtime after a harsh winter, and it feels like your potential return in the fall has that feel to it.

"I don't care who you are, especially if you're on a team sport -- I think these types of injuries are very lonely," said Rivers. "Very hard. Because rehab is all by yourself with some stranger. And you're away from your team. Just brutal rehab. That's what it is. He's been in [Florida] and that's tough. His family has been going back and forth. But he's made the commitment and he's been great."

Loneliness can make you go mad. Hopefully Rondo misses the comfort of being a teammate. Hopefully the loneliness made him think deeply about what went wrong. But more importantly Rondo just needs to learn to play again in some ways. This injury could force him to make changes to his game for the better. Rondo sparked this team tonight, you could feel it in the building. His leaderships may have taken another boost.

"First of all, it was just good seeing him," said Avery Bradley. "I haven’t seen him in a while. But having him there on the bench with us felt good. Felt like we had our captain back, so it was a good feeling to see him."

Green later added: "It was fun, it was good to see him. We haven't seen him since he had the surgery, so it was good to see him. ... I'm glad he's doing well. You just wish he was on the court, but it was good. I think it was a big emotional boost for us to have him on the bench with us."

"It was nice [having Rondo on the bench]," coach Doc Rivers said. "He told us today he was coming in, and it was good to have him back around. He's moving OK. You know, it's funny, I'm looking at it knowing he's nowhere near [playing again], but that's the first thing you look at. Having gone through that experience, we sat and talked about a lot of the stuff you have to go through. So it brought back these horrendous memories, actually. But he's -- from his doctors -- they say he's doing tremendous."

Added Paul Pierce: "It's good to get [Rondo] around the guys, to see some of his new teammates. Who knows, a lot of these guys might be here for him next year. It's good for him to get acquainted with them. He's done his surgery, he seems to be in good spirits, so it's good to see him."

That feeling appeared mutual, as Rondo -- sporting jeans, a navy blazer and a slightly longer haircut (Jeff Green joked that Rondo has "a little 'fro now") -- seemed to be in good spirits as he took in Friday's game. Rivers and Pierce weren't the only ones excited to have their point guard back in the fold. Rondo's presence was a welcome one throughout the entire locker room.

Rondo looked like himself, and for me it was a nice bolt to the heart. It pumped me up, and I can only imagine how it worked for the guys last night. The little fro was pretty cool. Sometimes something as simple as hair  style change could be a person who's dealing with change. The Celtics played hard tonight, and Rondo was the ultimate motivator tonight by just being there. Hopefully he continues to hang around. Like Paul said some of the new guys will be here next season. It will be good for him as leader to build relationships with guys.It was nice seeing him. It was a good surprise. It was also a touching moment in some ways. It was just great.

Nice piece. Exciting moment, and the team did seem to respond well to Rondo's return. While Rondo may have learned some things, one can hope that the team learned some things too.
