Celtics Blog Post New Entry

Martin wanted to be a Celtic, but they passed up on a good opportunity

Danny dropped the ball on this one. It's been a topic of discussion around here for the past few days. I don't know why Danny past up on him. Doc only plays veterans, and this guy would have been perfect for that. He picked the Celtics apart last night on the glass, and he had timely put backs. The Celtics passed him up because he has a history of being a guy with a bad attitude. This guy obviously would have helped the Celtics this season. I think Danny should have just signed him to take him away from the Knicks. Because who else would they have signed? Now he gave them a player who can provide a difference.

ESPN Boston column this morning by Jackie MacMullan:

"It was real close," Martin told me before last night's game. "Like, the deal was almost done. From what I understood, Doc wanted me and the players wanted me, but in the 11th hour …"

In the 11th hour what?

"They didn't pull the trigger," Martin said. "And I'm not talking a few days ago or even a few weeks ago. This was a couple of months ago.

"So now I'm here and I'm going to make them pay -- I'm going to make all the teams that passed on me pay."

Does Jackie only cover games that are against the Heat,  Knicks, or Lakers? I never see her write about any other games.

Without Ray Allen to use her as a conduit, Jackie has to branch out it seems.

I don't understand why they didn't go after him. It's not like that locker room was heaven on earth.
