Celtics Morning Joe: Doc doesn't care about seeding
|
|

In a world where the Celtics have a legit shot at winning the Atlantic title. The real world of it all, is that Doc doesn't care. Do I care as a fan, and as a blogger? I do care about seeding, and why shouldn't the Celtics? I agree with Doc at the same time, about rest, and all of that. But I also know seeding can be a big thing. I get what the Celtics are doing, and it's been this way since the Celtics limped into the 2010 playoffs coming off a 50-32 regular season, and they marched all the way to game seven of the NBA finals.
The Celtics have a real shot at getting the third seed, and very slim chance at the second seed, and I don't even care about the second seed. If the Celtics gran the Atlantic crown, they will get to avoid Miami until the Eastern Conference Finals, and they still get home court in the first round, and they will likely see the Pacers in the second round. A team they can beat. They've beat them twice already this season. So what's Doc have to say about the Celtics seeding?
"No. I hear it, I hear the talk about it all the time but I don't give it much thought," Rivers said. "I know we're all close right now, with Brooklyn, Chicago, and Atlanta and Milwaukee. But at the end of the day guys you just have to go play and win, and everything will take care of itself."
"It doesn't work. If you want to go somewhere you're going to have to beat somebody or someone," Rivers said. "So you just have to focus on being better and ready when the playoffs start."
When it comes to choice. I take health over seeding anytime. Hopefully things fall into place like Doc says. At the end of the day. The Celtics will see Miami, and they will be on the road for round 2 through whatever. But I also think Doc should be more aware of it, and more planning with days off. He said he doesn't plan days off for guys, but I think he should. Doc's a great coach, but his flaws show at times. Much like training camp this season when he said that guys were out of shape. So the debate continues rest over seeding. What do you want?

I think it's too late to worry about seeding.

I think they needed to avoid the 8th seed, and they're doing it.
