What are Celtic fans thinking: C's not better without Rondo, but poised for long run

It's been awhile but this post is back. These comments are from ESPN Boston.

54oatmealcookies- Good analysis out of ainge. Rondo is an all star and I like our chances better with rondo against Miami, but last night proved the Cs can make a deep playoff run with defense and all the different scoring options.

I agree with 54oatmealcookies. The Celtics could take Miami with Rondo, or at least have a better shot. Without Rondo the C's will need to be hot if they face Miami. The defense sets the Celtics apart, and it's the key for a long run.

iamnotwhouare- Rondo's absence will show come playoff time. Hopefully not until at least the ECF. That being said if they hypothetically moved Rondo for a skilled big they would be a better overall team than with the same roster and him healthy.

Moving Rondo is not an option, especially since most of the good big men who would be available won't replace what Rondo brings. In a point guard driven league Rondo is a need.

LosAngelesDoctorBleedGreen Doc is trying to avoid saying that they're better without rondo. He doesn't wanna $@%! off rondo. We all know they share the ball better without rondo

They share the ball better out of need. They don't have a guy like Rondo, or even a real point guard. So the ball is moving better because they have no other option.

To me, Rondo is a player you just don't trade. But I think Rondo has to step up, or maybe we should trade him. The way this last year went was a trainwreck, and I'm convinced that a big part of what went wrong was Rondo didn't maintain enough focus on the team and his game over the summer. The NBA is a 12 month league now. Why didn't Doc and Rondo spend more time than they seemed to, over the summer, working out the new offense? Some of the things guys like Danny are talking about now should have been settled over the summer, at least more so, or so it would appear. I wasn't a fly on the wall, but that's how it looks.

I don't want Rondo traded. But if he doesn't live up to his potential then Danny probably trades him. But knowing what he's done so far. Rondo will be fine.
