Tommy: 'Green's going to replace Pierce'

"This kid is gonna be a great player, he's gonna be the replacement player for Paul Pierce, and he's gonna be the go-to guy," said Heinsohn.

I think he's a fine replacement. I don't see Green becoming a better player than Pierce. Both players are different, but Green for me is a player that will be great with Rondo for years to come.

"A month ago, two months ago, I don't know if Jeff had the confidence or the mentality to do what he did tonight," said Gary Tanguay. "Now he does."

"I like that Jeff Green is gaining Doc Rivers' confidence," added Donny Marshall. "If what he did today doesn't get you excited, what is there to get excited about?"

I don't agree with Tanguay on much, but I agree that Jeff has gained confidence, and after this 31 point game. He believes more now in his  game than ever.

Tommy has a good eye for talent. Green is that guy who needs to fill Rondo's shoes this season. Like I said yesterday, he has the intangibles to impact the Celtics greatly. If Green plays this way for the rest of the season. The skies the limit for the Celtics. He doesn't need to put up 31 every night, but the effort with the intent to score 31 is what the Celtics need.

Yes we were. I'm happy for him, he seems to have broken out of a shell.

I don't expect 31 pts a game from him but I still believe jeff can get a little closer to that 20 ppg mark. In my eyes what we will really need is his defense for the rest of the year especially if we see new york or miami in the playoffs and his rebounding when he's playing defense and rebounding everything comes alot easier for him and those are necessities for us.

His defense really gets him going. His blocking has been amazing, before the season I wouldn't have even thought he could average nearly 2 blocks a game, that's what he's doing for the past 6-7 games. And 5 blocks against the Suns.
