"IN RONDO WE TRUST"

Celtics Blog Post New Entry

Ainge active, but feels like this team can win now

”It looks unlikely that anything will be done, other than possibly some players we will add to our roster,” Ainge said. “Not sure yet of what that will be.

“We’re looking to give it a run. When trade rumors come out that leads to a lot of (discussion) too. (Rajon) Rondo’s name comes out and Paul (Pierce)’s name comes out. KG (Kevin Garnett)’s name comes out. You have to field a lot of waste-of-time calls from media and other teams.

“Sometimes the teams try to predict what a team is trying to accomplish. Are the Celtics trying to win a championship this year? Because we’re in that middle, could go in either direction place, that leads to a lot of calls as well.

“My first choice is always to try to win now, especially when you have unique players like KG and Paul.  That’s always the best option.”

Ainge is playing it smart. The team is playing well at this time, so he has no reason to trade off KG, or Pierce. At the same time he holds onto two guys that fans don't want traded. The Celtics face rumors because Danny has built the reputation of a wheeler and dealer. With two great players. You can still put up a good run. The East is open outside of Miami.

I don't think Atlanta will get a better deal anywhere else.

What else is Danny goin to say? He won't tell us what kind of deals are out there, when has he ever? Did he do that when he traded Perk? Nope.

Idk what it is but I wouldn't deal green i still think of the possibilities with him and smith along with rondo plus we have to think when pierce and kg are gone that would bec a nice nucleus to build around not saying we couldn't around rondo and smith but more players that can finish on the break and are big enough to guard lebron we should try to keep/acquire.

I agree about Green, and after seeing him play in Denver tonight, made me less willing to part with him. I like a Bass, and Lee trade for Smith.

Idk what it is but i've liked green even when he came up small vs the heat 2 yrs ago in the playoffs. I feel he needs to be in the perfect situation to succeed and it seems like doc is learning how to use him. Tonight we were running a 1-3 pick and roll to get the switch for him like how we typically do for rondo and pierce, when the defense switches which they occasionally did green has a pg on him that he can do whatever he wants. I just feel we need to do different things like that for him as oppose to making him stand in the corner and shoot 3's. His defense is coming along also I still think he has room for improvement though as time goes on simply because he's been out for a year.

Green has shown that he won't play with Rondo unless it's his way. And I find it strange that suddenly everyone thinks Green is God. I mean, I know folks aren't saying that he is a God, but Josh Smith is a proven - for years - top talent, and Green is very much a late, not-so-great, bloomer. He IS looking better and better and I'm all for late bloomers, and that makes me feel more comfortable with keeping him, BUT, his better play is also what makes a smith trade more plausible...
