Bob Ryan started a fan club at some point. That fan club is 'I hate Rondo'. In this minute video he rants about Rondo, and mocks Rondo. I'll say it again. I thought Bob Ryan retired from reporting? This guy now makes a living off of bashing Rondo. I don't think we should condemn Rondo anymore for his sins this season. He's not able to stick up for himself obviously. Rondo gets no credit for the baby steps that he's taken when it comes to a leadership role. Over the summer it was well documented that he got the Celtics together to work on their chemistry. At this point guys like Bob Ryan who question Rondo are not understanding of the talent that he has. In a world of point guards. Rondo stands alone as a true point guard.
Rondo could change his game, but why should he conform? Yes, Rondo should pick up his defense. He was an All-NBA defensive player a couple of times, and he needs to restore that. Rondo has become a better shooter, and he's become more than just an assist guy. Ryan makes the point that Rondo dribbles too much, but doesn't Rose do the same when he plays? What about Chris Paul. Scoring for those guys is priority number one. For Rondo it's a balance. I agree that Rondo should take this time, and better himself. But give the guy a chance. I'm sorry he's not Larry Bird, or Kevin Garnett. Rondo could do what Ryan asks, but at the end of the day. It wouldn't be good enough. I apologize for the rant. I just think Ryan should pack away the type writer underneath the bed, and to never talk Celtics basketball ever again.
