Recap: C's win 97-84 behind Jeff Green breaking the rim
|
|

This was Jeff's night. Green is on a nice stretch right now. Jeff Green team-high 17 points was part of the story. He three of his best dunks in one game, and he had three monster blocks to go along with those dunks. Paul Pierce flirted with a triple-double (14 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists), and Kevin Garnett added 14 points and 10 rebounds on limited time on the court. They both played under 27 minutes.
The Celtics had their third best assist game as a team with 30 dimes off of 42 made baskets. The Celtics limited Orlando to 37.6 shooting (35 of 93 overall). The Celtics scored 56 points in the paint, great job. But as most of you know I believe in points in the paint when it comes to a defensive test. The Celtics gave up 52 points tonight. Goes to show you that Bass, and others can't stand the heat when KG is out, or even when KG is in at times. Bass couldn't put his money where his mouth is with a below average game of 2-of-6 from the field. A solid 7 rebounds by Bass, but his defensive was okay at best.
This win will spark more debate about which team is better. Pre-Rondo injury, or post Rondo. Time will tell guys.

I'm happy we got the win tonight and are 3-0 without rondo but 2 wins are against the kings and Orlando who aren't very good. I'm not gonna really buy into this team until we get a couple of legitimate wins. It makes me mad to see guys like Jeff green stepping up now that rondo is gone for the season green should've been there from the beginning.
Agree, and that's more of the story to me. Rondo can't make guys like Green, and Lee better if they don't want to. All of the sudden these guys are great. Green was inconsistent all season, but he's taking a bigger role because he needs to with Rondo out. The formula has changed so he's just playing better. As you say these wins are against two poor teams. Three games are coming up that will set the Celtics apart. A win on Sunday over the Clippers would mean something.
Still, even if it took Rondo being gone, the main thing is that they are playing better now. Just don't expect me to wave a pom pom for them.
