"IN RONDO WE TRUST"

Celtics Blog Post New Entry

Rondo's best over looked by C's collapse

"[The loss] wipes it out," Rondo said matter-of-factly. "It's kind of irrelevant. Say you score 40 or 50 points, if you lose, you lose, so all that matters is [wins] and [losses]."

I feel for Rondo. He's done everything during this five game skid. He tried to win the game with a 30 point outburst against the Bulls, and he tried to play a balanced game in Detriot. He flirted with a triple-double, and he would have gotten it if the Celtics made the shots. Rondo had 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists in the 89-86 loss. He was Mr. Cutch for the Celtics again, but he fell short again.

Rondo wasn't   perfect  in the fourth quarter -- two turnovers.Rondo did what some have ripped him  apart for not doing enough this season: With the Knicks ahead 82-72 with 6:46 remaining, he took Boston's offense over by having a hand in the team's final 14 points. He scored 10 himself (on 4-of-5 shooting) and  he had two assists.

Rondo put forth the effort again, but his team failed him. I felt like Doc squandered the Celtics chances yet again at the start of the 4th. Doc has been resting Rondo more lately. But I felt like he should have rested him earlier in the third, or at least find him more time to rest in the first half. The Celtics start 4th quarters slow, and having Rondo on the bench kills it. Rondo should play the entire 4th quarter.

"We don't want to keep saying that [we fought back]," Rondo said. "We lost the game. We put ourselves in the situation, so a loss is a loss. You can try to take some positives out of it, but at the end of the day, we lost the game. We have to move forward now and move on to Atlanta."

Rondo says we. No blame game with him. All we can do, and all the Celtics can do is move on to the next game. Tonight the Hawks! I wish Danny Ferry could suit up.

Incredibly, over at Celtics Blog, many fans are still blaming Rondo! They are fixating on what he did wrong. A few are even blaming his awful defense. I saw the game. Rondo played great defense. He extended the floor by picking up early. He stuck close to his man and was hard to shake. He only began to stray away from his man when Melo was killing us. Then he started doubling Melo, and that's part of what helped get us back into the game down the stretch.

The Rondo we saw last night is a championship player. It's absolutely incredible that fans still want to accuse him of stat-stuffing and horrible defense after he gave us everything we could have asked for last night, including - as you point out - stepping up and hitting shots down the stretch.

If Rondo plays this way the rest of the season, we will be a strong team again. We may have to work through some things, and Doc may have to show some flexibility, but that is most certainly a player you can build a championship around.

I wonder of Bradley heard from KG and PP about his twitter taunt against Rondo? He seemed appropriately subdued, like he realized that he hadn't earned the right to call out Rondo, and that when he does earn the right to call out a teammate that way, if he does, he'll know better than to do it.

Rondo was an MVP player last night. Maybe this is how it is. The season looks much like last season. Rondo the great waiting for everyone else.

Man I hope so. I'm pretty sure that part of what has been on Rondo's mind has been wanting to not burn out early the way he did in 2011.

Pierce has been off the hook all season. Yes he's been called out,but Rondo has really taken a beating from most of the media types.

Pierce gets called out a little. Rondo gets it constantly.
