Rondo wants more from team after losses

Posted by shawn cassidy on January 22, 2013 at 4:50 PM

We know Rondo hasn't had it easy as the suppose team leader. Because he's fighting for it, and it seems as if the team doesn't listen, or take him serious enough. Here's an article giving you some inside info in the C's locker room.

"Rondo is attempting to become a leader, but his teammates have to view him as one. They can’t view him as just a buddy. He has been handled the mantle and he absolutely has to begin holding his teammates more accountable and demand that they take their jobs more seriously. He has rid the locker room of the “I’m not worried, we have another game tomorrow” attitude."

Rondo may have to hold his team accountable, but honestly does Rondo control who plays with Rondo on a nightly basis? That's Doc, and even Ainge. But I agree Rondo needs to do what he can when it comes to correcting team members. What do you guys think?

“For me, it’s too laxed; our locker room is too laxed,” Rondo said. “Even though a lot of guy’s personalities are laid back. But we all got to this level by competing. And right now, the talent we have, the record is embarrassing. Until guys get sick and fed with it, I don’t know if things are going to change. We still have to go out there and play the game.”

Here is what Rondo said after the Pistons loss. Enugh said..

You beat me too it, Shawn! So funny. I was thinking about writing about this too at this very moment. Well done!

Since Doc's rant about getting rid of people, I've been thinking about Rondo. Should he be one of the people possibly being moved? I've decided once again that I strongly oppose such a move. As disappointing as Rondo has been in many ways, as stubborn and pig-headed he has been about basic things, like playing solid defense, and being aggressive on offense, as much as he has drifted in and out of focus, I don't think anyone can really deny (other than the 'good folks' at CSNNE and The Globe) that Rondo has been trying very hard to figure out how to lead this team. Against Detroit, he even started hitting the offensive boards. Fans complained about his 9 turnovers, and rightly so, but at least he was trying to make something happen. Every game one gets the sense that Rondo tries something different. He takes the team to dinner. He fights for teammates. He works with guys who are struggling one-on-one, and it's paid off with Bradley, Lee and Sully. As frustrating as being a Rondo fan has been this year, he still is a guy with once -in a generation talent, and I think there's no better way to go into the future, for the Cs, than working through Rondo's growing pains...

I totally agree with both of you guys!!
And If I was rondo teammate, I'd be ashamed of myself after what my LEADER said after the Pistons loss. And watching the interview, his face said it all. I think I've never seen him so mad.. he looked literally disgusted..
