Should We Trade Rondo for a Big?

Posted by paul on December 28, 2012 at 8:25 AM

I never thought I'd say this, and it breaks my heart to say it, but I think the time has come.  Rondo made me love NBA ball again.  I think the change in him came with the controversey over The Streak.  The way the media demonized him for what should have been seen as a great achievement was heinous. I notice he's started a new streak - six assists a game.  I wouldn't put it past him to do it on purpose.  But Danny was in the audience, and saw the pg he's staked his future on not compete against the pg he once wanted.  Is Rondo already hearing trade rumors?  Is that why he played so passively, even more than normal, and in a game where we had every reason to expect aggressive Rondo?  If there werent' rumors before, there surely will be now.  And this time, I can't blame Ainge.

Rondo is frustrated, and I think its hurting him. He's not getting what he wants out of teammates, but that's no reason for him to not guard though. Rondo shouldn't be traded.

He does seem frustrated. I think there was a play early in the game where he dove into the paint to grab an offensive rebound, and he snapped a brilliant pass out to Terry for a WIDE open three - which he totally clanged. I think that play really pissed Rondo off and might have had something to do with how he played.
