Celtics by the Numbers: Rondo not getting fouled?

ESPN posted a few articles that showed the Celtics foul percentages.
Earlier we spotlighted the Celtics players that were drawing the most and-1s on the team this season. Wondering which Boston players are drawing the most shooting fouls overall? Here's a glimpse at the team leaders in shooting foul percentage, as logged by Synergy Sports (league rank in parentheses, minimum of 75 plays):
Paul Pierce - 13 percent (48)
Chris Wilcox - 12.8 (52)
Jared Sullinger - 10.4 (101)
Jeff Green - 10.2 (107)
Brandon Bass - 9.5 (125)
Kevin Garnett - 9.4 (128)
Leandro Barbosa - 7.6 (185)
Jason Terry - 6.0 (223)
Rajon Rondo - 5.7 (228)
Courtney Lee - 4.4 (256)
The Celtics rank fourth in the league in free throw percentage (79.3), but only 17th in terms of free throws attempted per game (22.1). After Saturday's loss in San Antonio, Celtics coach Doc Rivers lamented his team's inability to get to the charity stripe, noting how free throws not only provide easy points, but allow a team to get back on defense and get set after makes.
We need Rondo higher on that list, and that's part of the problem for the Celtics. Lee should be higher as well. These are two guys in the backcourt that can get to the paint. They shouldn't be that low on this list. Here's the and1 list.
The Boston Celtics rank 29th in the league in 3-point field goals made per game, but there's more than one way to put three points on the scoreboard? Being able to finish through contact can often provide a similar momentum jolt as a shot from beyond the arc. With help from Synergy Sports data, a look at the Celtics' individual leaders in and-1 plays through 23 games this season:
10 - Paul Pierce
6 - Jeff Green
5 - Kevin Garnett
4 - Jason Terry
3 - Chris Wilcox, Jared Sullinger, Rajon Rondo
2 - Brandon Bass
1 - Courtney Lee, Leandro Barbosa
Green not bad, shows how good he can be when aggressive. But as you see Rondo is low on the list again. Rondo you need to get going!

OF course, ESPN being a stooge entity, they don't point out the obvious: that the refs are screwing Rondo over big time. At the same time, Rondo doesn't attack the basket enough.
Rondo has a fear of that. Last season he tried, and he has a bad taste. He was hit so hard. Even in the East Finals Wade wacked his head, and Rondo got no call. Game 2 would have been the Celtics.
So, I guess he is just trying other solutions, for a while.
But Celtics did it again (lose the game) and got back to mediocrity at 0.500.
This team right now it is what it this. Just a mediocre team, with no force and nothing to scare other teams with. If something doesn't change quickly, embarrassment will continue to develop.
I just think Doc is on the edge with his coaching right now. He just doesn't seem able to coach this team, this group of players. He is only being outcoached night after night, night after night. He doesn't seem to be able to change his schemes, his ideas of defense and offense, his rotations... Anyone not named Pierce, KG and Rondo, doesn't really have a legit change to really play, doesn't have access to enough minutes to integrate, to develop, to get into rhythm. So many players doing good on other teams, but being poor within Doc's system, rotation and minutes (just take a look at Nate Robinson, who tortured us tonight). I might exaggerate a bit, with these Doc's related comments, but, however, mediocrity (0.500) is there and we are falling. And will keep falling, unless some major change happens.
This team looks stronger than Rondo right now. This team is on its way to make Rondo look mediocre too. Never thought this would be possible.
