Recap: C's payback Philly 92-79

The Celtics bounced back nicely from Friday's loss, opening a big lead early. The Celtics and Sixers were  trading baskets early in the third quarter. A Courtney Lee 3-pointer had Boston out front by 21, but Philadelphia responded with a 13-0 run against Boston's bench , cutting the lead to 8. But before that the Celtics put together a good first half of defense holding the 76ers to 24% from the field, and allowing just 28 points in the first half. The 76ers opened up the third strong, and as I said they chipped away at the Celtics large lead. The 76ers scored 29 points in the third, and I honestly thought here we go again. But the Celtics pulled out the win, and got the lead back to 20, and ultimatley winning the game 92-79.

Garnett really had a solid game. He saved the Celtics in third quarter providing the majority of the offense. He hit 4-of-4 from the field, and he finished with 19 points in 23 minutes. KG also notched zero rebounds, and it's the first game in over 15 years since KG ended a game empty handed off the glass. Rondo flirted with a triple-double. He had 7 points, and 9 rebounds with 11 assists. Green had another solid game with 16 points, and honestly I predicted a Celtics loss tonight, and they showed no signs of being tired. I knew they would prove me wrong. The Celtics have the next three days off, and they need to build off of this win on the defensive end. Here are some key stats from Saturday night.

  • Sully 9 rebounds, and he's showing us that he may be the best rebounder.
  • Just 11 turnovers for the Celtics. Nice, and Pierce had 1 turnover. Plus he dished out 9 assists.
  • Boston gave up another 40 in the paint to the 76ers, and they accounted for half of the 76ers points.

My favorite play was Rondo teasing his double team into the corner, waiting for Green to cut to the basket, and then hitting him for the slam. Now that's how you take advantage of teams doubling Rondo!

Rondo has been exactly what we needed the past two games. I feel better about the loss, because we simply gave it away I suppose. Sully is my hero, and so is Green. Please continue to kick ass.

Green is connecting with Rondo! Love that.
