KG undefeated against his former team

I think it's something about KG's character. That he won't except losing against his old team. The team (T'Wolves) is absolutely different, and now the city has a new All-Star big man who is also named Kevin. In KG's first meeting with his old team in the Garden back in 08'. Kevin saved the game with the final seconds ticking off the clock. The Celtics had a one-point lead, and  it was KG with the big steal. After KG got the steal, and the final buzzer sounded. Garnett grabbed his jersey, and showed the world that he was a Celtic now. He pointed to the name on the jersey, and not the name on the back. That's how KG works.

KG is now five years removed from the trade, and this is  his 6th season as a Celtic. Many things have happened since. But one thing has remained the same. The Celtics have lost to every single Western Conference team at some point. But the beauty of KG, and what he's about shows up when he beats his former team.

"Of course he was pumped up," Chris Wilcox said. "But bigger than that was the way we established him in the post early on and went to him, time and again. That's what we're supposed to do every game, and why we don't, I don't know. But we did [Wednesday night] and you saw what happened."

Kevin wanted this game from the tip. He started out on fire, and  he  had an amazing lay up that set the tone for what he wanted to do.Garnett was a master out on the blocks. He had eight points in the first quarter on 4-of-4 shooting. All four of the shots came before his first break, midway through the period. He ended up playing fewer than 27 minutes but still collected the double-double (his fifth of the season) while matching his season high in assists. He was 8-of-13 from the field.

Defensively, he played on Love and  Nikola Pekovic. Love was never a factor despite a 19-point, 13-rebound night. Pekovic proved to be little more than an annoyance. KG was just all over their bigs when he got the chance. His intensity was at a season high. I'm sure the days off helped.

"I thought Kevin was terrific," Rivers said. "I loved how aggressive he was offensively. You could see he was looking to score, which is always nice for us, because his instinct is going to make him pass. So that was good."

When KG looks to score the Celtics win. When he doesn't want to score, and he passes shots up. It's obvious that the Celtics struggle to lose. The game ended with KG's adopted tradition in Boston. Gino time was apart of KG's first win in Boston, and it's been a staple since. KG will see his old team at least one more time in his career, and it will be in Minnesota. And perhaps maybe bigger things could be ahead.
