Jeff Green's POWER slam dunk!
|

This reminded me of a Dominique Wilkins dunk. Green showed up when it mattered most. I remember backing out of the drive way Friday morning thinking about Jeff Green in Rondo's two game banned. I knew had to step up, and Friday night Jeff Green had his biggest, and best game of the season.
The entire Celtics nation expects so much out of Green. I often forget that he went through a tough heart surgery, and maybe he's not 100% with endurance, and other issues that come along with a major surgery that's life threatening. Green wants, and I think when the Celtics hit April Green will be ready. He knows it.
The question -- one the Celtics have been trying to answer all season -- is how to get that effort from Green night in and night out.
"I just gotta do it," Green offered after Friday's win. "That's about it."
"We’ve just got to keep doing it. One game, it was great," Rivers said of Green. "What we’re trying to get him to see is, when he’s at the 3 he’s a power player; when he’s at the 4 he’s a speed player. And that’s how he has to look at himself. And our guys did a good job of getting him the ball as well.”
That's what it comes down to. Doc does a fine job with KG, and Pierce when they need to get going. I think he often forgets about Green when the second unit hits the floor. Green can be the guy that helps propels the Celtics into something great with Rondo, and the gang.
Green's 19 points were solid. Power plays, and shooting. Some of the shots you see on the stat sheet are fake. Green had two Doug Flutie hail marry full court shots added to his totals. I think Green must put up a solid game tomorrow as well. It's an interesting story. Without Rondo Green must step up, and when Rondo comes back. Green must maintain his brilliance off the bench.

That move he put on Sasha was the old Dave Cowens low post move, the quick spin to the basket that left defenders coughing in the dust. What was sweet too was the way Green rose to the basket. When the help defender came at him, Green didn't just maneuver past him in mid-air, like most dunkers would do. HE WAS STILL RISING TO THE BASKET! That was pretty impressive. He was like a helicopter for a moment.
