The situation in LA makes me sick. I'm not a fan of coach Brown, but what happened to him is wrong. Why did Jackson even retire? What's wrong with the Lakers at the same time. If Phil wanted a year off. The Lakers, and Phil should have made an arrangement. They should of had a interim coach for a season. Why waste coach Brown's time? The Lakers show time, and time again. That they treat people like crap, and that they think they can buy championships. Phil Jackson has been here before. He retired in 2004 after the Lakers lost to the Pistons in the NBA Finals, and he returned a year later in the 2005-2006 season.
Sources now say it's his job to turn down. The Lakers run back to Phil like he's the savior. I think Phil can't cure the fact that the Lakers have no bench. Phil can't change the fact that the Lakers have a banged up Nash. Phil can't change the fact that Gasol has lost interest. When this is all over with. I hope Phil has some integrity and stays away. The media has been acting like a teenage boy hitting puberty over Phil Jackson.
Phil Jackson met with Los Angeles Lakers executive vice president Jim Buss and general manager Mitch Kupchak on Saturday. The group agreed to talk again in "a couple days," according to sources.
"No time frame has been set, yet," a source told McMenamin.
The Lakers zeroed in on Jackson on Saturday morning and if their former head coach is amenable to a return under the right conditions, it likely would be on a two-year deal, sources told ESPNLosAngeles.com's Ramona Shelburne.
"It's Phil's job to turn down," sources said.
What those right conditions are extends beyond Jackson's health and willingness to return to coaching after retiring after the 2010-11 season. It would need to be "a philosophical match," according to sources.
Issues such as how much control over personnel decisions Jackson will want and whether he would travel to all games -- issues that became problematic during Jackson's last stint with the team -- surely will be raised.
