NBA Nightly Rundown: Kevin McHale blames the lockout for not getting along with certain players

Kevin McHale blames the lockout for not getting along with certain players- Yahoo.com

"It's much more comfortable just knowing that we're here, planning with the coaches, having players coming in and out, being able to talk to them about what we're envisioning," McHale, 54, said. "We're just getting a comfort level with each other as opposed to having the lockout lifted, two days and then getting started."

Last season, the first time most Rockets players heard McHale's voice (unless they were fans of NBA TV or "Cheers" reruns) was when he was furious with the terrible and revealing first practice. As players pushed back, objecting to his changes and demands, McHale often cited the lockout and inability to forge relationships before he began the December rush to the season.

The level of play should be so much better this season. All across the board. It will only help the Celtics, and the older guys will be in better shape this time around. I think the younger guys came into camp disengaged. This time it's on, and everyone has a clear mind, and the lockout didn't fix everything, but it's in the rear view mirror.

Nets' first year in Brooklyn to be featured on TV-Yahoo

The Brooklyn Nets will be featured in a behind-the-scenes series on both NBA TV and NBA.com. The league's network announced Wednesday that it will spotlight the team on "The Association" in its inaugural season in the New York borough.

This is the fourth straight season that the "The Association" has followed a team. Previously, it spotlighted the Los Angeles Lakers (2009-10), Boston Celtics (2010-11), and Denver Nuggets (2011-12).

The Nets series will tip off on Oct. 16.

I would have been nice for the Celtics to win in 2011 when they were on the show. It was awesome to watch anyways in 2011.

It's hard for stars to coach because others don't live up to their standards.
