The rivalry isn't the same, because Pierce isn't the same player from 2008. Plus James is that much better. Pierce seems to take one for the team each, and every game against Lebron. Pierce this season also was a step slow because of a sprained MCL in his knee. All Pierce can do is to capitalize when he can. All Pierce can do is to stop James when he can. Despite Lebron's game six masterpiece. The Celtics play him well, or as well as any team can.The Celtics use the zone back and forth.
Pierce needs to understand one big glaring key to the Heat and Celtics matchup. Paul must understand that he can't play hero ball. It's a trap, and it will spell the end for the Celtics.
The Celtics have Jeff Green on the bench who can aid Paul. Green wasn't here last season as you know. And it should be a big deal this season.Green has loads of potential, and his talents are needed, and more so against the Heat.
The Heat have Battier, and Lewis coming off the bench. And that's pretty damn good, but how will the Heat play all three? James will play 40 minutes a night. I guess it all depends on Miami's game plan. If they play small Lewis may start at power forward, and Bosh will start at center. If you look at the Celtics roster. They only have one other small forward. That wing is Kris Joesph. Can he hold the fort if Pierce, or Green suffer any injuries. Should the Celtics bring in Daniels for a 4th season? I think the Celtics are gambling a bi if they role the dice with a rookie as the third string.
Christmas, and Smith are fighting for the 15th spot on the Celtics. But I believe the Celtics have enough youth. At least for now. I think the Celtics are backed up pretty deep all around. But not on the wing. Pietrus is still on the market, but it's unlikely he signs in Boston. If both Pierce, and Green stay close to 100%. Than who needs a third string. The Heat clearly have the advantage on the wings. James is the best in the game right now, and you do what you can to stop him. But Pierce is smart enough to get his, and he's able to get inside Lebron's head.
The Celtics will never have a Lebron James type on their team, but that doesn't mean the end. Heading into the next post. The Celtics have a similar player that control the game, and outcome.
