Four roster spots to go, who gets a job on the C's?

Posted by shawn cassidy on July 14, 2012 at 8:10 AM

The Celtics have filled the roster with 11 players so far with guaranteed contracts. The Celtics have three players signed with non-guaranteed contracts,  E'Twaun Moore ($760,000); Kris Joseph ($473,604); Sean Williams ($915,000).

If Danny signs all three , that would only leave one roster spot. I think from my point of view, Sean Williams should go to clear up room for Pietrus, or Dooling. I would hate to see Moore go so soon, and Joseph. So I would be pretty happy with signing Dooling, and than putting Williams on waivers, and signing Pietrus. It will be hard to say goodbye to players like Marquis Daniels. He's been here the past three seasons, and it was nice having him around. I do see the Celtics taking him, if MP decides to play somewhere else, but every season it seems like the roster comes down to a spot or two, and than it comes down to goodbye's.

The Celtics still have hopes for Lee, and Mayo, to make that happen it will be  very hard. Here is a rundown of the salaries, and contracts if you haven't seen them already.

I just think the most important is Dooling.

If Green and Jet are here than no need for MP, because I think Moore can play now.

I think we still need Pietrus as an inbetween player, but in particular as a guard who can guard twos. Terry is a little small, and Green a little tall.

Guarantee Moore and Joseph. If a trade can't be found for Williams, let his contract expire. That's two. Make an offer to Christmas and try to re-sign Stiesma. That's four. Try to trade Johnson for Mullens. Give up on chasing Mayo, Lee, and Dahntay Jones (supposed to be in the mix now as a sort of consolation for not getting the other two).
That gives you 5 possible centers - Garnett, Wilcox, Melo, Mullens, Stiesma
6 possible PF - Garnett, Wilcox, Bass, Mullens, Sullinger, Green
3 possible SF - Pierce, Green, Joseph
4 at SG - Bradley, Terry, Christmas, Moore
4 at PG - Rondo, Terry, Bradley, Moore
