State of the Celtics: Green coming back for 40 million , and 4 years? Ray spends the night in Miami

I want Jeff Green back. but damn! I don't know if he's worth 40 million for 4 years. I do know, he's not. He's coming back from a heart surgery, that could have ended his life, or career. Green will have to play up to Rondo's level, which isn't possible.

Si.com reports

On the Celtics front, agent David Falk continues to say he thinks a deal gets done with Boston for free agent forward Jeff Green. One source with knowledge of the talks says it may be in the four years, $40 million neighborhood, but it is not done.

"I’m confident it’ll get done," Falk told SI.com. "I guess they got (Brandon) Bass' (contract) done, which is great. Jeff is trying to get a sense of what the team looks like first before he makes a commitment, but I expect he’ll be there and I expect it’ll be done by the 11th (when the free agency moratorium ends). We’ve gotten a lot of interest from other teams. But as far as Boston, we’re very confident we’ll get it done.

"He wants to be in Boston. He’s excited about the moves they’ve made. He’s hoping Ray Allen comes back as well, because he feels very close to Ray Allen." Allen is visiting Miami today and appears to be down to Boston and the Heat for his considerations.

Is this news a sign that Ray isn't coming back? I don't know, but the Celtics are working with no cap space now. After starting the free agent frenzy with some cap. I love what the Celtics are doing, and they have enough young talent around Rondo, with the Big three, or 2/3 of the Big three. Plus Terry in the fold. Maybe this deal is a step for a sign and trade? I think this signing by the Celtics if it goes through, won't hurt their chances with Ray.

AP: Ray Allen is staying in Miami overnight, as talks with Heat continue.

Many reports speak of Ray staying the night, which sounds like bad news for the Celtics. Maybe Ray arrived late, or is staying later, because the meeting with the Clippers died today after they signed Crawford. Either way, I don't like the news.

No way we pay him that. Green needs to prove himself again.

Yea, I hope so. Because the Celtics need him to win this season.

Ainge is staking his reputation and career on his faith in Green. I think it may work out, though I wonder if he's just being stubborn. And for those who continue to defend The Trade, I'd like to point out that even if Green plays brilliantly, The Trade was still a horrible move by Ainge. He basically deliberately booted a championship. Nevertheless, if any team can bring out Green's potential, this team can do it. And Rondo can do it.

Ainge obviously loves this guy. Ainge can be a great judge of talent. We'll see.
