Celtics Blog Post New Entry

Ainge still has a lot to do

The draft is over, and thankfully we didn't see the Celtics trade up for Austin Rivers. The Celtics didn't make any splashy moves, and they got some young bigs to test out this coming season. The Celtics have 4-5 free agents that they'll re-sign, or they'll work on sign and trades. It's obvious that KG is the top priority for the Celtics.  Ainge said this after last nights draft.

"I've been talking with Kevin (Garnett) and his people, and don't really have any conclusions yet. But that's a big part of it, absolutely. That's our No. 1 option, and one reason is because Kevin's such a valuable player and the other reason is he's the only guy we can talk to until Sunday."

I will sound like a broken record, but the Celtics need KG back for around 8 million, but I fear he wants 14. The Celtics can't build a team if they pay him 14 million. I think at the end of the day he'll get at least 10 million. KG is that pin, and it needs to drop fast, so the Celtics can build this team. I think will see a sign and trade with either Green, or Bass, and hell maybe both guys. The Celtics are rumored players in the Josh Smith, and OJ Mayo race. The Celtics biggest chips would be trading Bass, or Green in a deal that would bring Smith, or Mayo. Another trade may come out of somewhere else, but at the end of the day. I think the Celtics need to use Green, or Bass to get better.

I feel good about this off-season, but than again it could turn into nothing, and the Celtics could send out a team that is mediocre at best. I'll stay confident until the Celtics make their moves.

I am really getting a bad feeling about Ainge. As far as I can see, he has no real plan. OJ Mayo? Crawford? For God's sake, shooting guard is a good position for us right now. So now we are looking for any two guard who has a reputation for scoring a little, and that's somehow an answer? Weird. Jeez, we need a high quality PF or Center, someone we really want next to Rondo. That's what we should be focused on. If we can't get that, we should just go for bit players.

Or does Rondo have some kind of fascination with Mayo? If that's the case, then ok, though I don't get it. I think what Rondo wants should be the key right now.

I think that future draft picks should be part of our trade offers. But again, only for someone we really want running with Rondo. Otherwise, no. But for the right person, I'd offer pretty much anything, except Rondo and Bradley.

I think Rondo will have a lot of input,or at least some. I think Ainge will build the right team.

If Ainge and Doc and Rondo work together, I think they can put something together.
