What defines success for the C's?

Posted by shawn cassidy on February 18, 2012 at 3:20 AM

What is the journey to success? Success is not gained by defeat, but in the moral sense. Success does not occur over night, and waiting for the offense is a prime example. Success can emerge at any age, and the big three look to prove that right. Success is working to full potential, and that's something the Celtics need to do. Success is courage, and the C's have plenty of that in the lockeroom. Success is lending a hand, and the Celtics at their best can dish out the most assists. Success is not listening to negativity, which is out there a lot right now.

Success is being positive.Success is living your life instead of the life of others. Success is being proud, and the old veterans are full of pride. Success is overcoming obstacles, which the Celtics have done in the past, and they seem to come back, after they have been left for dead.

Success is striving.Success is listening to your heart, and the heart says champion. Most of all success is accepting who you are, or might be, or could be. The Celtics know what success feels like, and winning a title is the only option. Accepting what needs to change will define the success of the Celtics this season.

You touch beautifully on a real mystery here. I think about Bill Russell. Sometimes Bill Russell would talk about success in the crudest way. It's about winning championships, while dominating and intimidating others. Other times, he would talk about success in almost spiritual ways. Two teams playing so beautifully that it's a beautiful dance. The pride of knowing you did your best, despite challenging circumstances.

I wish he'd speak to the team about that. I think they need some inspiration right now, and Danny's threats aren't doing it.

I think Russell really motivated KG in 2008 right? He was around the team some, and who could forget the interview between the two. This team needs some old Celtic magic.
