"IN RONDO WE TRUST"

Celtics Blog Post New Entry

Sasha was a burst of energy

Not sure where it came from, but Sasha played his best game Monday night. He was all over the floor. In the passing lanes, grabbing steals, and putting the ball in for an easy hoop. Sasha was playing a solid defensive game. He was all over Howard, and blocking a couple of shots. I have never seen Sasha play  with so much speed, and urgency. Will we see it again? I hope so, but his time will go down again once Ray, and Pietrus return for the C's. So what do you think. Will Sasha get more playing time? Will he impact the Celtics in another game this season?

"Sasha was great," said Rivers. "I got on him one time because he didn’t shoot. When he took that next jump shot, the whole team sorta said, ‘Please go in.’ Because I had just yelled at him to take it, and really, it freed him up [when he made it]. Sasha can shoot. He had just missed one, then he drove and traveled the next time instead of shooting. So he can shoot the ball, it’s good.

"Defensively, he’s terrific."

I think that what happened monday night was a very special thing. It won't happen exactly that way again. We'll have games where Sasha is sasha. Lots of them. We'll have games where Bradley is more like a blind mole than a savage honey badger. We'll have games where KG looks ancient, where JO looks moribund, where Paul is a selfish prat. BUT THIS COULD BE A TURNING POINT. We could become a lot better from here forward.

How well Rondo returns will have a lot to do with it? Will Rondo buy into the example that Bradley set? Will he raise his intensity on defense? Will he be more consistent?

But there is another side to this too. All this talk about getting Sasha and Bradley to shoot is really ticking me off. Why do these guys get to shoot and Rondo doesn't? When Rondo comes back will he be unleashed? Or will we be right back into that damned codependent cycle where he is relegated to bringing the ball up, dumping it into Paul, and standing around, and if he misses a shot everyone starts talking again about what an awful shooter he is?

Honestly, I'm starting to be really sick of this situation and this team. And KG was rattling the other day about how Paul always is and always will be the team's leader. This crap just never stops. I love Paul. I love KG. But the times are changing.

I just hope Rondo raises his defensive intensity, inspired by Bradley, and then comes back on the defensive end and damn well REFUSES to take a back seat to the Big Three again. Let those days be over, Rondo. You shoot. You dribble. You attack the basket. You look to pass. Be an adult. Don't yell at people. Don't throw things into television screens. But stick to your guns. If Avery Bradley has a green light on offense, then you have it much more than he does.

I'm so sick of how much people hate on Rondo, mainly because he's an oddball, as far as I can tell.

I meant to say, "then comes back on the OFFENSIVE end"...
