The Good, the Bad,and the Ugly: Game 8 of the season against the Pacers

Posted by shawn cassidy on January 7, 2012 at 12:15 PM

The Good

Not too many good things from last nights game, but the defense was sound in the first half, and in the first quarter holding the Pacers to 18% shooting. The Celtics gave up 30 points in the third, and they scored 30 points in the third so that didn't help their cause last night. Ray Allen again was the only Celtic to talk about. The man is uncanny.

The Bad

Paul Pierce shooting 3/17 for the game. I will say more than half of his shots looked like they we go down. He didn't force anything, but at a certain point the offense should have been taken over by Rondo, and it was for a brief time. I think will see a bounce back from Pierce.

The Ugly

I'm sick, and tired of the rebounding effort. We have four able bodies to rebound the basketball. We have one of the best rebounding forwards of all-time in KG,but I know he has lost a step, but he can rebound the ball. It's not like the Celtics have an undersized Glen Davis anymore. The problem could be effort, but I think it's a team thing. The Celtics always get smacked down on the boards, and it's always the first thing I look at because of the Lakers series in 2010. We lost a damn championship because of poor rebounding. Rebounding should be the top ticket during the four day's off. The offense is okay, but the one thing on offense is real simple. Let Rondo have total control. Doc seems unwilling to do that.

Celtics are done. I have some hope, but not a lot. I love the team so I won't give up hope, but this team is no title contender.

I won't speak until their 4 day break is over. I'm sure they have lots to discuss and practice. Hopefully they can patch up their game and get the ball rolling again.

The way I see it, last night reflected Pierce and Rondo continuing to arm-wrestle for team leadership, and I'm sick of it. I'm sick of the Big Three for not giving way to Rondo more graciously, and I'm sick of Rondo for being so damn passive aggressive.

That's how I see it too. They need to talk to each other and work this thing out. If they can find synergy together, they can be a real force. But if not, it's just a bunch of old guys and a kid who can't find his way.

If they GROW as a team, and find/define their character as a team, they can challenge for a title. But I see no sign that they care to do this. I see a lot of bs and no beef. These guys need to get together and figure out where they are at and where they are going.
