"IN RONDO WE TRUST"

Celtics Blog Post New Entry

Rondo and Stevens already connecting

I have given my thoughts on this realtionship (Celtics Morning Joe: Masters of the mind), and Celtics Morning Joe: A new voice for Rondo.

The new coach expressed this about his new All-Star point guard.

"As far as Rondo, I will say this. There is no bigger fan of Rajon Rondo than me.""Everyone I've talked to has raved about how intellectual (Rondo) is. . looking forward to sitting down with him and talking ball.""I'm looking forward to sitting down and learning from him." They talked yesterday, as reported.

At this point, both of these guys know what's been said about their future together. Some say they are  destined to fail ,and I believe it's not that at all.I think both guys are looking at this as a togetherness to prove everyone wrong. So on the flip side. Rondo had this to say about his new coach.

While Rondo hasn't spoken publicly, all indications are he's just as intrigued to meet Stevens and wants to spearhead Boston's rebuild. Ainge phoned Rondo after the team hired Stevens and told him the news. Rondo's response?

"[Rondo said,] 'Oh, Is that the guy that coached Gordon Hayward and Shelvin Mack?'" recounted Ainge. " I go, 'Yeah, yeah, that's the guy.' [Rondo said,] 'Oh, yeah. That sounds great.'"

Stevens reached out to all of the players on Boston's roster on Thursday and had conversations with most of them, including Rondo.

"It sounded like their talk went really well and they want to get together and see if they can develop a relationship before the season starts," said Ainge, who maintains he has no desire to move his star point guard this offseason.

Stevens seems frighteningly naive, but then again, this whole thing seems to have taken him a bit by surprise. he says so many things that we've been needing to hear.

It's the first day on the job. Will see how he talks when he hits a losing streak or two this season. Is it realistic to believe this team should be in the playoffs?

It bothers me when they don't talk about the playoffs! Yes it will be interesting to see if Stevens is so full of smiles when things start going wrong

If stevens will reallly sit down with Rondo to discuss the plan for next season, I think they can work well together!! Rondo himself said that he's not difficult to coach, but he challenge the coach. If the coach listen to him and they can compare their own opinion, i'm sure they can develop a very good relationship.

Stevens' enthusiasm for working withRondo is exactly what the doctor ordered. I think it is quite possible to see in the choice of Stevens a pretty strong criticism of what happened under the Truth Doctor and the Three Saints...
