"I’ve heard for a few weeks now that Boston is salivating over Atlanta forward Josh Smith and would be receptive to unloading Brandon Bass and Jeff Green to obtain him."
I'm starting to grow fond of Green. I honestly wouldn't make that trade. I like Smith, and would like to see him in Green. But I don't think he's a max guy, and I think the Celtics would have to pay him that to keep him. If Green can continue to play like this, or even become a little better. He will be a steal, much like Rondo is with his contract. I think dealing Bass or Lee for Smith is a different story. But again who would replace Lee in the starting unit? I guess Smith would, and Pierce would move down to shooting guard? Not sure what Danny would do if he made a Smith deal, because with either deal your giving up two for one. From all reports. The Celtics have talked about patching up their wounds, not making them worse.
I would want Smith, but not for max money. Is Ainge willing to pay him that to keep him? If he's not, than don't rent him for a season.
Some other news this weekend as all of you know is the big KG rumors. This is what KG had to say about waving his no trade clause.
Marc J. Spears @SpearsNBAYahoo When asked if there was any team or circumstance that he would drop his trade clause for, Kevin Garnett simply said: "No."
I just don't see Danny blowing this thing up. The Celtics should fear just one team in the east, and that's Miami. I think the East is wide open for teams 2-7. The Celtics with Rondo would have been right there against the Heat, but now the Heat of course are clear favorites. But again I won't count out the C's.
