"IN RONDO WE TRUST"

Celtics Blog Post New Entry

Doc laughs off team better without Rondo, and the media has their day

The media asked Doc if the Celtics are better without Rondo. What do they think he'll say?

“That’s silly,” Rivers said. “The bottom line is that you’d rather have him. But we do have other guys that can do different things. Having Courtney Lee and Avery [Bradley] gives you size at the guard spot. They are more physical guards so in that way that helps. Everybody does different things and that’s basically who we are now.”

The media of course asked if guys are happy to see Rondo go. Not that bluntly, but it seemed like it.

“I don’t know, I just think more minutes helps anybody,” Rivers said. “We lost six games in a row and I thought it was time to start playing better. We did play well against Chicago, we just didn’t win a game. We played well against Atlanta and then lost the game. I thought we were starting to play better anyway, and that was with Rondo.”

The media when will you drop this? After every game with this team be hammered with Rondo questions. This team in no shape and form is better without Rondo. But does that mean that can't strive to play better without him?

I was reading a Rondo post over at RedsArmy.com. They posted that they listened to  Dennis, and Callahan.

I gave WEEI’s Dennis and Callahan about 4 minutes of my time before a twitch in my central nervous system forced me to change the station. Some of the crap I heard:

Rondo demands the ball Rondo strives for triple-doubles and the team suffers because of it Rondo forces his flashy style into the game I’ve been one of Rondo’s harsher critics, but these are all lies. What point guard doesn’t demand the ball? That’s their freakin’ job.

Rondo’s triple-doubles are NEVER forced. The guy averages a double-double, so how exactly is he hurting the team by rebounding? Laughable.

His tip-off trickery is harmless. The walk-the-dog routine saves time on the clock. His signature fake-behind-the-back-pass remains extremely effective. Not to mention, he rarely, if ever, turns the ball over when doing it.

If the Celtics start playing better basketball without Rajon Rondo, it’s because the injury sent a jolt to every member of that team and not because he’s detrimental to the team.

In other news, Jared Sullinger did not practice today and he’s 50-50 for Friday’s game vs Orlando.

The media just loves to hate Rondo. At least he won't be blamed for any future struggles this season.

The thing is, there's no question, in my opinion, that this team wanted Rondo gone, and that they played horrible with him, and I don't blame all of that on him. I'm sick and tired of Lee and Terry and Bass. I'm starting to almost hate them. Bradley makes me sick. I think Pierce was part of it too. Does anyone really really believe that this team suddenly is playing better and it's totally innocent? That they really really really couldn't play this way with Rondo? I CALL BULLSHIT.

KG and Sully are the only members of this team that I have any respect for. I tolerate the rest of them, from a fan point of view, for KG's sake.

Heated, this team will fall Paul. Rondo will get the last laugh. But it's sad honestly that this team is more divided than we know.

I'd love to see Rondo get the last laugh, but I also have to say that I want to see this team succeed. In the end, it's just basketball, and even if their 'magic turnaround' is something that on some level they should be ashamed of - though they won't be, I know - in the end, they are playing better, and that's all one can ask for.
