Question of the day: Should the season start on Christmas day?

I actually agree with Doc on this. I like the idea of having the season start on Christmas day. Hers is what Doc had to say about it.
Doc Rivers left home for the holiday, lost the game, and loved every minute of it."That was perfect," Rivers said, recalling the Boston Celtics' 2011-12 season opener. "I just think it was awesome."
"I think starting on Christmas Day would be better and then going later into July, I think that would be better so the start of our season wasn't overshadowed as much by NFL football and college football," ABC and ESPN analyst Jeff Van Gundy said. "If you did that, obviously you'd have to extend into July a little bit. But I think 66 games, the only bad thing about that would be people losing some money and so because of that, no one's ever going to do that. It would certainly be better for the product."
"I thought that game — I thought it was so anticipated, lot of fun. The buzz in Madison Square Garden was amazing," Rivers said. "I really did, I thought it was absolutely wonderful, the timing with football almost over, people ready for basketball."
I think the season should end in July with 82 games? Baseball doesn't pick up until the mid summer classic in July which usually takes place around July 15th or so. When the NBA season starts at the end of October the NFL, and college football seasons are peaking. Football beats everyone in the ratings so starting later may help. I think the cramming of games won't happen if they have the Finals in July. But when I really think about it. I think it's truly fine the way it is. I think the buzz that Doc spoke about was because the fans waited for basketball because of the lockout. We missed two months of NBA basketball. So the buzz was high.
I'm kind of torn on this, but I think it's okay the way it is now.

It's hard to say. The season would be less grueling and that might make for better ball. But the beauty of the way it is is like baseball. The season is so long that it is a real journey.
We still have 50 plus games. Let's catch the Knicks, and get that second seed.
