Faced with the possibility of losing Ray Allen, the Boston Celtics are pursuing Dallas Mavericks free-agent guard Jason Terry, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The Celtics are preparing themselves for the possible loss of Allen, and began the process of recruiting Terry after midnight ET Saturday, league sources said.

The Mavericks still have interest in re-signing Terry. The Los Angeles Clippers also have emerged as suitors, sources said. The Celtics also have interest in Los Angeles Clippers free agent guard Nick Young, sources said.

Terry, 34, averaged 15 points for the Mavericks this season.

Terry is a little younger, and he's clutch. He's  a great teammate also. If the Celtics would lose out on Allen, Terry would be a solid replacement. I hope it doesn't come to this though.

According to Tanguay, Allen hates Rondo. Now we also have Davis talking about how Rondo is hated, but is really a good guy. It seems that Rondo may in fact be generally hated in the NBA. The refs certainly hate him, I'd say. Maybe that's why folks don't seem to want to come to Boston, even though they could benefit from Rondo's playmaking. I think Allen will regret the decision he has made, and I think Terry would be a fantastic replacement.

I wonder, though, if the real issue isn't that Allen reasonably wants a no-trade contract and Ainge won't give it to him?

I don't think the ref will keep players from coming to the Celtics. I hope they don't.
For a big guy who run the floor and even for a good shooter, there's nothing better than playing with Rondo.
I don't understand what's with all this Rondo hating. All the players that actually come to know him say that he has a bad reputation but he is a really nice guy. Sometimes it seemed to me that this year Pierce and Allen didn't accept Rondo leadership.
