Rondo has become a player to build around
|
|

Rondo produced 44 points, 10 assists, eight rebounds and three steals, playing all 53 minutes in the Celtics' loss to the Miami Heat. Rondo was 16-of-24 from the field, making both shots he took from beyond the arc. He was also good from the free throw line, going 10-of-12. Rondo had arrived to a different destination. He wasn't known as a 40 point scorer, but sadly enough, Rondo could score 40 in a game more than you think. He was close many times in the regular season. But in game two against the Heat, Rondo became the hero. Something the Celtics need at times, his attempt fell short, but next time Rondo will be ready. Sadly we won't see Rondo's chance for redemption until November. Rondo could be on track to see the Miami Heat every year in the post season. Of course depending on how the Celtics rebuild this season.
But what kind of Rondo will the Celtics need to win next season. I guess it depends on the talent. Rondo will need to score if the Celtics don't have Ray or KG, and if the Celtics are unable to add enough scoring threats. Rondo will have some young teammates. Bradley, and Rondo could be an all defensive back court next season. It should result in easy points for both players. Ball pressure next season should be off the charts with a healthy Bradley, and a more confident Bradley. Rondo may have Jeff Green, and Bass to work with next season. Rondo as a scorer will only help the Celtics. Rondo's evolution as a shooter has made him that much better. He will keep the defense honest.
Game 2 was a turning point in Rondo's career because not only did he silence the haters, but he solidified his place in NBA playoff history. Rondo is becoming the most complete player in his generation. Westbrook I'm sorry is not a point guard. He's a shooting guard. Rondo is the best point guard in the league. For the Celtics to raise another banner. Rondo must score the basketball when the opportunity shows it's self. Because a timid Rondo makes for lousy basketball.
Rondo is the Boston Celtics' first NBA assists leader since Bob Cousy, and Rondo will be linked with Cousy for his entire tenure in Boston. Both guys have similar flare, and passion for the game. Rondo will surpass Bob one day in almost every assist category. He's already past Cousy with single season assist total, and average.
Rondo continues to grow. His biggest strength passing, has even gotten better. His shooting has reached a level of above average, but Rondo still needs a superstar jumper. If Rondo can make his 15 foot jumper. Than nobody can stop him. But Rondo's greatest gift could be his want to win,and to grow. He also wants to the best.
Rajon Rondo is the ringleader of the Boston Celtics, without a doubt in my mind. He was the best player on the team last season, and will continue to hold that position after the Big Three era. But I just hope that Pierce takes a step back. Hero ball can not happen next season.

Pierce and Rondo next season must change. It will be key to the success, more so than free agents coming in.
These two guys can be amazing together. We've seen bits of this. But we haven't seen it consistently. Something in Pierce keeps bringing out the hero-baller in him, at the worst of times (second half of game six)

I feel very thankful that Rondo is here, and that he is who he is. The Celtics couldn't rebuild without him,and the Celtics wouldn't have even made it out of the first round without him.
I want to see Rondo's vision unfold.
