Doc just the better coach

Rivers’s coaching scheme and ability to manage substitutions and motivate players have made a difference throughout the playoffs. When times seem hopeless, he brings the team together. It also helps that Rondo has been very vocal, and that KG is KG.

His faith in Mickael Pietrus paid off  large amounts in Game 5 as Pietrus found his shooting touch. He stuck with MP despite his shooting woes, and struggles with over aggressive fouling. Pietrus put up his best Posey impression in-game five.

The Celtics have gained the upper hand in the Eastern Conference finals, overcoming the odds with a 94-90 win over the Heat Tuesday. The victory, gives them a chance to close out the series in Game 6 at TD Garden Thursday night. We know that, and it sounds very comfortable.

One more victory and the Celtics would make their third trip to the NBA Finals in five seasons. And this would be one of the most daring and unexpected in franchise history, as the Celtics had a losing record halfway through the season. This could look more impressive than the 69 finals win, if the Celtics carry out and win this season. The Celtics had a losing record. People wrote them off for even making the postseason. This team keeps proving everybody wrong.

“For us, offensively, it comes down to us getting stops,’’ Rivers said. “When we get stops, we run. If they score, they can get back, and once they have their feet set, their athleticism at times overwhelms us.

“We have to score in transition and we have to score in space. And I really think the only way we do that is by getting stops.’’

The Celtics have all the answers to the test, and Doc plus Rondo. Are doing a better job coaching in this series. I thought last year that the Celtics would beat he Heat because of coaching. This season Doc has hit the right buttons, and Doc has had some bad moments this season. He hasn't always made the right choice, but at this point the Celtics remain one win away from a title. Thanks to Doc allowing Rondo to play freely. More so now, than in the regular season. He had a hold on this team. But he's smart enough to see that Rondo can feel the game on the court, and that Rondo can make the right decision.

Rondo and Garnett are both like coaches on the floor.
